African American Art Exhibit
Ethnic Heritage Museum

· Ethnic Heritage Museum
1120 South Main Street, Rockford

· Sunday, February 11, 2018
· 2-4pm

On Sunday, February 11, the African American Gallery of the Ethnic Heritage Museum will unveil its newest exhibit, "African American Art", showcasing the work of local artists.  Be there from 2 to 4 for a special reception as the artists will be available to discuss their work and answer questions.  The reception is free, but donations are accepted.

This exhibit includes a special collection of prints and a personally-signed profile by internationally known artist Ernie Barnes.  His painting entitled "Sugar Shack" appeared as cover art on a Marvin Gaye album and in the closing credits of the popular tv show "Good Times."  Barnes is also known for his skills on the football field.  He was an offensive lineman for the New York Titans, Baltimore Colts, San Diego Chargers, and Denver Broncos.
